Why I use the Southwest Card
I have not found another card that offers benefits quite as good for our flying needs as the Southwest Card. Southwest may not fly to all of the destinations that we would love to visit, but by having the card for several years, we have built up many points. Then once I book my flight with points, my companion (typically my husband) gets a free flight. The card we use does have an annual fee of $149 but the benefits are worth it to us.
Beginning January 27, 2026, Southwest is changing the seating and "bags fly free: policies. We shall see how that affects our travel experience. But having the card allows you to continue to have fewer baggage fees
Benefits of the Southwest Chase Card
You should use a Chase Southwest card if you frequently fly with Southwest and want to earn points for free flights, get travel perks like free checked bags, and work toward elite status. The cards offer accelerated points on Southwest purchases and everyday spending in categories like gas and restaurants, along with a yearly bonus and other benefits like in-flight discounts and Companion Pass qualifying points.
Travel Tips
How to pack light?
Packing light is the easiest way to add joy to any trip. When you bring only what you truly need, you move more freely, stress less, and have more room to enjoy the adventure. Choose pieces you can mix and match, stick to the basics you love, and skip the “just in case” extras. A simple carry-on lets you breeze through airports and jump into exploring the moment you arrive. Focus on versatile pieces, which is not easy, especially when it comes to narrowing down the shoes to pack. Wearing all black or all of one color may be helpful. Rolling your garments or purchasing vacuum bags may help you save space.
